Be Aware of Data Mining

Free email and storage services provide cutting edge features and large amounts of storage space, but be aware of what companies can do with your information when you use those services. Many companies reserve the right to mine information on their servers for advertising and other purposes. Nothing is really free; the University pays for email and Web storage so your information is secure, delivered to you advertisement-free, and protected from data mining. Use University protected services to store or move any University-owned sensitive data.
